Since its foundation in 1959, San Marco imaging (SMI) started developing and manufacturing manual and semi-automatic photofinishing equipment, gradually extending its activities to the worldwide market, both in distribution and servicing.

In the early 1970's SMI was one of the first companies in the world to develop a complete range of automatic equipment conceived as stand-alone compatible modules anticipating the "3 in 1" future compact minilab architecture: film processors, paper processors and printers.

This activity constituted the base for minilab manufacturing start-up in 1976, followed by mass production in the 1980's, both on its own and in cooperation with allied Gretag Imaging Group.

Besides the distribution of products under SMI label, the specific expertise acquired in photofinishing has been recognised through important OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) supply contracts.

In this respect, a wide range of products developed and manufactured by SMI has been distributed by leading Corporations under their own label all over the world. Since its foundation, more than 30,000 units manufactured by SMI have been successfully installed worldwide and a great deal of them are still working with high Customer satisfaction.
